Police announced that Rashaad Allen, 27, of Camden, was arrested and charged in a shooting that killed Mutota Amon on Jan. 16th.
Officials say when Camden County Police responded to the intersection of Morton and Norris Streets in Camden on Wednesday afternoon, they found the victim, Mutota Amon, unconscious on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
According to authorities, Amon was taken to Cooper University Hospital where he died a short time later.
Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson subsequently charged Rashaad Allen with first degree Murder on Jan. 20th. Rashaad Allen was taken into custody without incident at the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office yesterday. He was transported to the Camden County Police Department where he was processed, and then taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a pretrial detention hearing.
Under Criminal Justice Reform rules, the court may order he be detained or released with conditions.
All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
