Newark Police are investigating a shooting that left a man injured in the city’s South Ward on Friday afternoon. Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said the incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. on December 13.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment building in the 500 block of Elizabeth Avenue.
Authorities say the victim, who was shot inside the building, managed to flee to the area of Bergen Street and Renner Avenue, where responding officers located him.
He was transported to University Hospital, where he is being treated and is currently in stable condition.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation, and police have not released additional details at this time.
