Police in Elizabeth are investigating illegal fireworks use incident that injured a male Sunday night.
A preliminary investigation indicated that at approximately 10:35 p.m., Trinitas Medical Center officials notified police when a male entered the emergency room suffering a severe hand injury.
A M-80 reportedly blew up in the victims hand while trying to light the firework.
The victim reported that he was injured in the courtyard at Mravlag Manor off Clarkson Avenue.
Police confirmed that the victim was injured after handling fireworks.
In a separate incident at approximately 9:50 p.m., officers also responded to a shooting near 114 Ripley Place, where arriving cops found no victims after a neighborhood search.
