UPDATE: Linden Woman, 19, Tragically Killed in Route 27 Crash in Roselle

A 19-year-old woman from Linden lost her life in a serious car crash along Route 27 in Roselle late Thursday night, according to local authorities.

Roselle police reported that the incident took place around 11:40 p.m. at the intersection of St. George and Chandler avenues.

A 2012 Chevrolet Equinox struck a curb, breached a fence, and crossed through an open lot before coming to a stop in a Wawa parking lot nearby.

 

Ice cream The victim, identified as Ms. Jayla Pryor of Linden, was a passenger in the vehicle. Her brother, Joshua Pryor, 27, who was driving the vehicle, suffered minor injuries.

The crash led to the closure of Route 27 in both directions for several hours, with traffic resuming around 9 a.m. Friday.

The Wawa parking lot and gas pumps were also temporarily closed.

Roselle Mayor Donald Shaw expressed condolences to the family, and authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.
