Essex County officials announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating a fatal shooting.
Officials said on Monday, at approximately 4:23 pm Mr. Anthony M. McGriff, 34, of Lawrenceville was shot on the 100 block of Prince Street in the city of Newark.
According to officials, he was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:08 pm.
No arrests have been made at this time.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
