Authorities in Ocean County announced that on March 20, Moshe Ehrlich, 35, of Lakewood Township, was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child in connection with an incident that occurred in Lakewood on March 18.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer stated that on March 18, at approximately 1:45 p.m., officers from the Lakewood Township Police Department were dispatched to the area of 5th Street for a report of an infant inside a motor vehicle in distress.
Responding Officers found Hatzolah Medical Services attempting to render lifesaving aid to a four-month-old male infant, Lakewood Police said.
OCPO officials say the child was transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood, where he was pronounced deceased.
A thorough investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Lakewood Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit determined that the infant - Ehrlich’s son - was left alone in his vehicle for an extended period of time, according to Ocean County officials.
Ocean County authorities stated that on March 20, Ehrlich surrendered himself to Lakewood Township Police Headquarters and was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he is currently lodged.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
