Update: Juveniles Responsible for Hillside Carjacking; Newark Crash

Police are saying that a 15-year-old teen was behind today's carjacking in Hillside.

According to police, at approximately 8 a.m. the teen approached a woman in a Toyota Highlander and carjacked her while armed with a riffle. on Wolf Place in Hillside. The suspect, a 15-year-old male, and two others - only described as 13-year-olds - fled the scene.

Sometime around 2 p.m., police spotted the car and tried to pull it over but the vehicle in attempts to evade police crashed into a car at Bergen Street and Pomona Avenue in Newark.

The car - which was occupied by a woman and her infant daughter -

are both expected to be OK, according to police.

According to witnesses on the scene, the three-month old baby, and mother suffered undisclosed injuries. No immediate information was available as to the suspects condition.

Charges have not yet been announced.
