Authorities in Hudson County announced that members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit have charged a juvenile in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Jersey City on Friday, January 3.
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez stated that the 17-year-old male is charged as a juvenile with Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
He was arrested on Monday, January 6, 2025, at a residence on Garfield Avenue in Jersey City, according to Hudson County authorities.
Hudson County officials said that shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Friday, January 3, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a shooting in the area of Lembeck Avenue and Old Bergen Road.
A male victim – later identified as Rahmiere Morris, 20, of Jersey City – was located with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso, Jersey City Police said.
Hudson County authorities said he was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:35 p.m.
Juvenile matters are confidential, and no additional information can be released at this time, County officials stated.
