UPDATE: Jersey City Hit-and-Run Under Investigation That Injured Pedestrian

Authorities in Hudson County announced that the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a hit-and-run collision in Jersey City that critically injured a pedestrian on Monday, April 7.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said shortly before 1:30 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Bay and Erie streets.

Responding officers located a male victim — later identified as a 37-year-old Jersey City resident — with serious injuries, according to Jersey City Police.

Hudson County authorities stated that the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.

The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition, Hudson County officials say. 

The circumstances of the collision are being investigated by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
