The Essex County Prosecutor's Office have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred on the Irvington-Newark border this morning.
According to authorities, police responded to the area of Springfield Avenue and South 20th Street after receiving reports of shots fired and a person down at around 11:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, police found Mr. Del Roberts, Jr., 27, of Irvington, unconscious and unresponsive after suffering gunshot injuries authorities said.
EMS rushed Roberts to University Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead just after 12:15 p.m.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
There are no suspects arrested at this time.
