A dangerous armed robbery suspect who held up a Newark South Ward supermarket then fired shots from a gun on Saturday morning is now being sought by authorities in Essex County.
According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose, shortly before 10:44 a.m., two black male suspects who wore all black clothing entered the B&C Supermarket, located at 943 Bergen Street, and robbed the cashier of cash at gunpoint.
Director Ambrose said while no one was reported injured, the suspects fired shots from a gun during the frightening incident.
Director Ambrose described one of the suspects as approximately 5’3” tall and wearing a black leather jacket.
"The second suspect was taller and wore a North Face jacket," Director Ambrose said
A third man -who waited outside the establishment- fled the area with the suspects who entered the store, and ran westbound on Custer Avenue on foot.
**"The men are to be considered armed, dangerous, careless, and must be removed from Essex County streets authorities said**.
