Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé announced that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating a shooting last night in Newark that left two men dead and a woman injured.
According to Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Spokesperson Robert Florida, at 11:30 p.m., police were notified of a a shooting in the 100 block of Shephard Avenue inNewark.
Spokesman Florida said police responded and found Mr. Isaiah Cobb, 33, of Hillside, suffering apparently from gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:45 p.m.
Mr. Terrance Carroll, 51, of Newark, was also found suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead today at 12:13 a.m.
A female victim identified by residents as Mr. Carroll’s wife, around 33-years-old, was injured and is being evaluated at a local hospital.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
