The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Newark's South Ward on Wednesday.
According to a spokesperson for the prosecutor's office, yesterday at approximately 2:41 p.m., Mr. Tyree Lamar Barba, 25, of East Orange suffered fatal gunshot wounds on Chancellor Avenue and Wainwright Street in Newark.
Authorities said when responded to reports of shots fired in the area, they found Barba outside in an empty lot unconscious and unresponsive.
Medical personnel pronounced Barba dead at the scene at approximately 2:51 p.m.
More than a dozen shell casings found at the scene of the shooting according to reports.
The investigation is active and ongoing authorities said.
There were no arrests reported.
