Police in Elizabeth reported no injuries in a shot-fired incident that occurred in a section of the city on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 1149 Mary Street just before 2:20 p.m. sending police to the scene to investigate.
Several units arrived at the scene and found evidence that a shooting occurred, but no victims were found at that location after officers searched the area.
Witnesses reported to police that a black male suspect who wore a light-colored hoodie fired multiple rounds at unknown targets before fleeing the scene in a silver vehicle that sped away for the scene.
Police believe that the car had no rear bumper and was last observed heading toward Walnut Street.
The incident remains under investigation.
