A 59-year old female and two children were severely injured as a result of being struck by a motor vehicle on Tuesday afternoon in Keyport, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
According to authorities, on Jan. 8th, at approximately 3:12 p.m., Debbie Triano, 59, of Keyport, was walking with her two grandchildren on Main Street, when they were all struck by a northbound 2008 black Acura TL driven by Kathy L. Ascolese, 22, also of Keyport.
His grandmother was pushing the youngest of the grandchildren in a convertible stroller/car seat. As a result of the impact with the vehicle, the stroller’s seat became dislodged from the stroller’s frame and became airborne, landing a substantial distance from the initial impact.
All victims, including a minor passenger inside the driver’s vehicle, were transported to the hospital for treatment. Triano and her two young grandchildren remain hospitalized for their injuries. The young children are in critical condition with multiple injuries, while Triano remains stable. Ascolese also remains hospitalized for observation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Keyport Police Department along with the Monmouth County Serious Crash Analysis Response Team.
