Update: Girl Riding Bike Struck by 83-Year-Old Driver in Linden

Police in Linden continue to investigate an accident that left an 8-year-old girl injured after she was struck by a vehicle last night.

Yesterday at approximately 6:08 p.m., the Linden Police responded to an auto – pedalcyclist crash involving an 8-year-old girl. 

A red 2000 Dodge Intrepid, operated by an 83-year-old male driver, was traveling west on E. Blancke Street near the intersection with Washington Ave when the cyclist rode south, across E. Blancke Street and directly into the vehicle’s path.

Due to the serious nature of the crash, the juvenile was transported by Linden Fire Ambulance and MEDIC-10 to University Hospital Trauma Unit in Newark for treatment for her injuries. 

The juvenile is presently being treated for a mild concussion, broken femur and other non-life threatening injuries. 

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured as a result of the crash.

Members of the Linden Police Traffic Bureau Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
