Police in Maplewood are continuing to investigate and search for suspects responsible for robbing a gas station in the Township last Sunday.
According to a statement released by Maplewood Police Director Jimmy DeVaul, May 19th at approximately 4:40 a.m., a male wearing a mask approached the gas attendant of the 66 Gas Station on Springfield Avenue and demanded cash.
Chief DeVaul said the male displayed a handgun then struck the attendant several times with the weapon before running form the scene with the cash.
Officers responded and checked the area, but were unable to locate the male according to Chief DeVaul.
EMS responded and evaluated the attendant, but he refused medical attention Chief DeVaul said.
The investigation is ongoing.
