Area businesses and residents were evacuated after construction workers strick a high pressure gas line in Linden.
According to police, at approximately 11:40 a.m. a construction crew working in the 100 block of N. Wood Ave struck a high pressure gas line.
Stores were evacuated, and a shelter in place warning was put into effect in the area.
Linden Fire Firefighters, Linden OEM, and Union County Hazmat personnel all responded to the scene.
N. Wood Ave remained closed in both directions between Blancke Street and Elizabeth Avenue while repairs are made.
