Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Monday, October 28, Halim Fisher, 26, of Galloway, was sentenced on charges of unlawful possession of a handgun, eluding police, and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute it.AdPursuant to the terms of his plea agreement, Fisher was sentenced to an aggregate term of six years in New Jersey State Prison with 42 months of parole ineligibility under the Graves Act, County officials said.

According to Atlantic County officials, on December 21, 2022, Fisher was arrested in the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City after he and a juvenile distributed crack cocaine to a man inside of a convenience store.

When police arrived at the store, Fisher was taken into custody, and a narcotics scale and Ford car keys were recovered from his person, County authorities stated.

Atlantic City police said a search of the juvenile led to the recovery of crack cocaine.

Subsequently, police located a Ford Fusion, and surveillance video showed Fisher parking near where he was arrested, County authorities said.

Officials said that a court-approved search warrant later led to the recovery of a loaded handgun inside the glove compartment.

The DNA laboratory confirmed that Fisher’s DNA was present on the handgun, County officials say. AdAtlantic County authorities stated that Fisher was also sentenced on two unrelated indictments charging him with eluding police during an attempted motor vehicle stop in Hamilton Township on June 2, 2023, and to possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute it on the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City on November 23, 2022.
