The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and Asbury Park Police Department responded to a report of shots fired around 11:31 p.m. Saturday, in the area of Atlantic Avenue and Monmouth Avenue.
Authorities say upon their arrival, officers found three victims suffering gunshot wounds.
EMS transported the victims to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries police said.
During the investigation, Police say, two additional gunshot wound victims arrived at the hospital in separate vehicles.
A joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Asbury Park Police Department learned the five men were with a group of people when a car pulled up and fired several shots striking the victims before driving away from the scene.

Police say the victims are identified as; a 27-year-old male who was treated and released; a 25-year-old man with non-life-threatening injury but remains hospitalized; a 29-year-old male with non-life-threatening injury but remains hospitalized; a 27-year-old male with non-life-threatening injury but remains hospitalized; and a 31-year-old man who was treated and released.
This is an active and ongoing investigation.
