New Jersey Transit officials have confirmed an early morning fatal train strike that occurred in Clifton.
According to a statement released by officials, the incident happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. on the Kuller Road tracks which is just east of the Paterson train station.
Officials say an unidentified female trespasser entered the tracks and was struck and fatally injured by a Suffern bound train that had no passengers, but the three crew members who were on board did not suffer any injuries.
NJ Transit temporarily suspended train service in both directions for the investigation.
As of 8:30 a.m., officials say there are 20 minute delays.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
