Essex County authorities have announced that they are investigating a shooting that left a male dead at a location in Newark on Saturday evening.
According to authorities, crime scenes were established on Clinton Avenue and Bergen Street and -a second location- in the 90’s block of Frelinghuysen Avenue at approximately 9:10 p.m.
Police say they were flagged down by the driver of a vehicle in the area of Bergen and Clinton Avenue.
When police began to investigate, they found an unconscious person inside the car suffering bullet wounds.
Police learned that the victim was shot in the 90’s block of Frelinghuysen Avenue shortly before being found.
The victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
Officers canvassing the Frelinghuysen Avenue shooting scene found about eight shell casings.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
