Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that took place at the Ramada Hotel on Two Bridges Road in Fairfield on Friday, October 3, 2024.
According to Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II, the Fairfield Police Department received a 911 call reporting unknown trouble at the hotel around 12:27 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
One of the victims was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:35 p.m.
The second victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is currently being treated.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld until formal identification and notification of next of kin.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force and the Fairfield Police Department are investigating the incident, which remains active and ongoing.
However, authorities have stated that there is no immediate threat to the community.
