An afternoon shooting that injured three people - including a 6-year-old child - in Plainfield this afternoon is under investigation by the Union County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force.
Plainfield Police Division units responded to the 300 block of Astor Place at approximately 2:35 p.m. Friday. At that location investigators found three victims of gunshot wounds: a 24-year-old male, an adult female, and a 6-year-old girl.
The male victim was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
The adult female received medical treatment at the scene, while the child was transported to a local hospital for treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening leg injuries.
This case remains under active investigation.
