UPDATE: Fatal Shooting on College Street in Jersey City Under Investigation

Authorities in Hudson County announced that the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Tuesday, April 30.AdHudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez stated just after 12:40 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of Audubon Avenue and College Street.

Officials said responding officers located an extensive crime scene.

An unresponsive male – later identified as David Jones, 24, of Jersey City – was located at 1 College Street with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body, officials say.

Authorties say he was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 1:35 a.m.

According to officials, a second individual, a 23-year-old Jersey City male, was located nearby with an apparent gunshot wound to an upper extremity.

He is being treated for an injury that is not considered life-threatening at this time, officials stated.
