An initial report of a crash in Plainfield late last night, has authorities now investigating this as a homicide, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Monday.
The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Shavaun W. Green of Plainfield.
Plainfield Police Division patrol units responding to a report of gunshots being fired rushed to the 500 block of West 2nd Street shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday to find a vehicle that had crashed into a light pole. Green was found inside the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
This matter remains under active joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, the Plainfield Police Division, the Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and the Union County Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Unit.
