Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the ongoing investigation of the fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in Hasbrouck Heights on Monday.
Officials say the investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, and the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael J. Colaneri.
According to officials, on Monday, at approximately 3:14 pm, Hasbrouck Heights Police Officers and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit were dispatched to a serious motor vehicle accident on Route 17 South and Franklin Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights.
A garbage truck traveling south on Route 17, operated by Jonathan Lacher of Nanuet, NY struck a Kawasaki ZX-14 motorcycle, operated by 52-year-old Nuri Kaloshi of Hasbrouck Heights that was traveling west on Franklin Avenue crossing Route 17.
Police say Kaloshi was pronounced dead a short time later.
Lacher remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation police said.
The investigation is continuing and no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
Lacher was issued one summons for Careless Driving, in violation of N.J.S.A. 39:4-97, and one summons for Failure to Observe Road Signals, in violation of N.J.S.A. 39:4-81.
Police say Lacher was released from the scene pending his appearance in Hasbrouck Heights Municipal Court in Hasbrouck Heights.
