Bergen County authorities are investigating a violent crash that killed one person inside a car in Carlstadt Thursday morning.
According to Sergeant John Cleary, at approximately 3:30 a.m., a passenger vehicle traveling northbound on NJ-17 near the Carlstadt Ice Company located at 517 Route17 North traveled off the roadway.
It crashed into a parked, unoccupied box truck situated on their property.
Sergeant Cleary said the vehicle became engulfed in flames, later extinguished by responding firefighters. The car was occupied by only the driver, who suffered fatal injuries.
According to Sergeant Cleary, the driver's identity is still unknown at this time and is being investigated by the Carlstadt Criminal Investigations Unit.
