Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced an ongoing investigation into a tragic motor vehicle collision that resulted in the death of a woman on Saturday, February 3.The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are jointly conducting the investigation.
The incident occurred around 12:20 a.m. on Route 185 near the Linden Avenue East intersection in Jersey City.
Officers who arrived at the scene found a 2019 Nissan passenger vehicle that had crashed into the rear of a parked and unoccupied tractor-trailer.
Three women were involved in the accident. The driver, a 28-year-old woman from Staten Island, and one passenger, a 27-year-old woman from Old Bridge, were transported to the Jersey City Medical Center (JCMC) by Emergency Medical Services.
Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were later released. However, the second passenger, identified as 31-year-old Stephanie Weymouth from Bayonne, was pronounced dead shortly after 1:00 a.m.
As of now, no arrests have been made in relation to this fatal collision.
The authorities are actively seeking information from the public to aid in their investigation.
