Essex County authorities are investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Newark on Tuesday, June 4.
According to Essex County Chief Assitant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly, shortly after 5:00 p.m., Newark officers responded to a report of a collision between a motorcycle and a Honda Fit automobile at the intersection of Broadway and Oriental Street.
The motorcyclist, identified as 29-year-old Mr. Cristian D. Tavaras of Newark, was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:43 p.m.
The driver of the Honda Fit was also transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The collision is under investigation by detectives from the Prosecutor’s Crime Scene Investigations Bureau, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.
Authorities have not released additional information at this time.
