UPDATE: Essex County Man Killed After Rear-Ending Tractor-Trailer on NJ Turnpike

A fatal crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Bergen County claimed the life of a Nutley man late Sunday night, according to a statement released by the New Jersey State Police.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:08 p.m. on September 29 in the northbound express lanes of the Turnpike near milepost 121.4 in Fort Lee.

 State Police officials said a Toyota Camry, driven by 34-year-old Mr. Justin Veras, collided with the rear of a disabled Kenworth tractor-trailer that was parked in the right lane.

Veras sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

A 20-month-old passenger in the Camry was also injured but suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

No additional injuries were reported.

The New Jersey State Police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash, and further details have not yet been released.
