Police in Elizabeth are investigating a late night shooting that left a female in critical condition Wednesday.
According to authorities, at 10:32 p.m. police responded to Third Street and Magnolia to investigate reports of shots fired.
Authorities say officers arriving at the scene found a female suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital in Newark where she remains in critical but stable condition, police added.
Officials say, while at University Hospital, officers got a call that there was a male who was transported to Trinitas Hospital, after suffering two gunshot wounds to the hand after being in the same location as the first victim.
According to police, the unidentified male victim is currently in stable condition.
