NJ State Police officials have identified a man who suffered fatal injuries after a crash that occurred on a highway in Kearny on Saturday night.
According to a statement released NJ State Police, the single-car crash happened at around 10:55 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-280 near mile marker 16.5 where police received calls reporting an accident with injuries.
Officials say they arrived at the scene and found a severely damaged 1997 Ford Mustang with one person trapped inside at that location.
According to officials, rescue crews were able to extricate severely injured Mr. Raymond Adolphus, 41, of East Orange, from the vehicle where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a preliminary investigation, police say Adolphus's Ford Mustang travelled west on the ramp from Harrison Avenue to I-280 west where he somehow lost control and ran off the left side of the road, struck a tree, then overturned.
The official cause of the crash remains under investigation.
