A 46-year-old East Brunswick man died as a result of a motor vehicle accident along Rt. 18 in Colts Neck early Saturday morning, announced Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
Accoridng to Prosecutor Gramiccioni, Mina Salib, 46, of East Brunswick, was the passenger in a 2006 BMW X5 driven by Samy Yani, 46, also of East Brunswick, at approximately 4:51 a.m., when the vehicle veered off the southbound roadway in the area of the Normandy Road Bridge.
The vehicle struck a tree on the passenger side where the vehicle came to rest. Salib was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:43 a.m. The prosecutor said.
EMS transpored the driver, Yanni to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The NJDOT Traffic Management Unit shut down the roadway from 6:30 – 10a.m..
The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and Colts Neck Police Department.
