UPDATE: Driver Faces Additional Charges for Severe Multi-Victim Collision in NJ

Authorities in Hudson County announced that the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit has filed additional charges against a driver involved in a motor vehicle crash that occurred in Weehawken on Friday, July 5.AdHudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said Luis Tubac-Socoy, 25, of Passaic, is charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault, eight counts of Endangering an Injured Victim, Causing Serious Injury While Driving Unlicensed, and five counts of Assault by Auto.

Officials stated that he was arrested on Monday, July 15, at the Hudson County Correctional Facility, where he has been detained since the collision.

According to officials, at approximately 9:50 p.m. on July 5, 2024, the Weehawken Police Department was notified of a collision in the area of Avenue at Port Imperial and Port Imperial Boulevard.

Responding officers located a damaged Honda CRV near Port Imperial Boulevard and Henley Place, officials said. 

Officers found the Honda had been struck by a Ford F350, officials say. 

Authorities say after striking the Honda, the driver of the Ford fled the scene, striking three pedestrians a short distance away.

Officials said the driver drove from the second collision scene, later exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot. 

Two of the pedestrians, a 78-year-old North Bergen female and a 70-year-old female from Florida, as well as one passenger of the Honda, an 80-year-old North Bergen female, were seriously injured, according to officials.

Officials say the third pedestrian and four other occupants of the Honda suffered minor injuries.AdThe Weehawken Police Department identified the driver of the Ford as Tubac-Socoy during the preliminary investigation, officials stated.

He was arrested and charged with three counts of Assault by Auto, two counts of Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collison Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and one count of Aggravated Assault, and issued multiple motor vehicle summonses, according to officials
