NJ State Police are investigating a crash that resulted in a fatal pedestrian strike on the NJ Turnpike in Newark on Sunday morning.
Officials said NJ State Troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash at 4:14 a.m. on the New Jersey Turnpike north on the outer roadway to the western spur milepost 105.9, Newark.
According to officials, based on a preliminary investigation, a Toyota Corolla was traveling north in the area of milepost 105.9 when a Honda Accord struck the rear of the Toyota.
NJ State Police officials said the impact caused the Toyota to cross the roadway and strike the right guardrail.
As a result of the crash, the driver of the Toyota was ejected from the car onto the highway.
Officials said a tractor-trailer traveling north struck and killed the driver.
The identity of the victim is not being released at the time.
The crash remains under investigation.
