Newark Police are reporting the arrest of Mr. Tyrone Anderson, 46, wanted for a bank robbery that occurred on Friday, May 26.
According to authorities, shortly before 10:30 a.m., a man walked into the TD Bank, located at 105 Mulberry Street, and handed the teller a note demanding money.
After receiving the cash, the suspect exited the bank and walked north on Mulberry Street in the direction of Newark Penn Station police said.
Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Mr. Tyrone Anderson as a suspect and applied for a warrant for his arrest.
Police said The FBI's Violent Crime Task Force arrested Anderson yesterday at an unspecified location.
"The FBI's participation with the Newark Police Department in the Violent Crimes Task Force continues to be instrumental in removing criminal offenders off the streets and improving our communities," stated Timothy Gallagher, Special Agent in Charge of the Newark FBI.
“I want to once again thank our federal partners, we can’t do this alone. Law enforcement is more effective when we work together to address crime and remove criminals from our streets,” Director Ambrose said. “And I commend detectives of the Newark Police Division’s Major Crimes unit for their hard work in quickly identifying this suspect.”
Police charged Anderson with Robbery.
These charges lodged against Anderson are mere accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
