A motor vehicle crash involving a deer led to a serious accident on I-287 North in Edison Township, Middlesex County, early on October 29.At approximately 12:48 a.m., a Nissan Sentra traveling north struck a deer, becoming disabled in the center lane near milepost 3.2.
Shortly afterward, a northbound Volvo tractor-trailer collided with the Nissan, causing the Volvo to veer off the road and crash into a concrete sound barrier.
The driver of the Volvo, identified as 69-year-old Guido Appelgren Rodriguez from Byram, NJ, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. The driver and passenger of the Nissan sustained minor injuries.
The crash is currently under investigation, with no further details released at this time.
