UPDATE: Community Tips Lead to Newark North Ward Shooting Suspect's Arrest

Authorities in Newark announced the arrest of Frederic Masucci, 25, of Newark, who was wanted for a shooting that occurred on Thursday, January 12, 2017.

According to authorities, at approximately 5:00 p.m., a 29-year-old male victim was shot in the 300 block of North 10th Street by a male suspect following a quarrel.

Police said the suspect fled the scene on foot.

The victim was transported to University Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Through investigation, Major Crimes Detectives determined the identification of the shooter and executed a warrant for his arrest authorities said.

Last night (Friday), members of the Newark Police Special Enforcement Bureau receive a Crime Stoppers tip on the location of Massuci. Working on the lead provided by the tipsters, Massucci was located in a basement apartment on the 100 block of Garside and was apprehended without further incident.

Massuci is charged with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Criminal Attempt.

This charge is merely an accusation.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
