A Middlesex County man is among two victims gunned down in a hail of bullets inside a bodega in Newark’s Central Ward Saturday evening.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at the intersection of Spruce and High streets (Martin Luther King Boulevard) around 5 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found two males severely wounded inside the bodega.
Family and friends of Mr. Sajade Nichols, 35, of Carteret, told RLS Media that a gunman fired multiple times at him and then killed another person (non-employee) inside the store before fleeing the scene.
Nichols was rushed to University Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead about an hour later.
Police canvassed the area for a black Mercedes with temp tags observed speeding from the scene.
Authorities have not confirmed the motive for the attack and The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is leading the investigation.
