Essex County authorities are investigating a fatal multi-vehicle collision that occurred early Saturday morning, October 12, on the Raymond Boulevard Bridge in Newark’s Ironbound section.
Shortly after 4:00 a.m., Newark police responded to reports of a crash in the westbound lanes of the bridge.Upon arrival, officers found that three vehicles—a Ford Focus, a Dodge Durango, and a Subaru Outback—had been involved in the collision.
Tragically, the driver and passenger of the Ford Focus, identified as (pictured) Ms. Anaji S. Ryan of Carteret and Ms. Ayriella M. Hughes of Elizabeth were pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims' ages and hometowns are pending official verification.
The drivers of the Dodge Durango and Subaru Outback were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Their conditions have not yet been released.The Essex County Prosecutor’s Crime Scene Investigations Bureau, along with detectives from the Newark Fire Department, is handling the investigation.
