A set of alleged carjackers who attempted to take a car at gunpoint in Newark's South Ward were stabbed by the vehicle occupants authorities said.
According to authorities, at around 9:15 a.m. the suspects flagged down three occupants of a passing vehicle and attempted to request a ride.

When the driver agreed to allow the suspects a ride, after he thought he knew one of the men, one of the suspects reportedly flashed a gun in an attempt to take the vehicle at the intersection of Keer and Hobson authorities said.
The suspects demanded the vehicle occupants personal possessions and keys to the vehicle.
While attempting to hand over hand items one of the occupants retrieved a box cutter from the car's floor and "repeatedly" began to slash the alleged carjackers, forcing to them to flee from the vehicle.
Police responded to the intersection and foind the two alleged carjackers, who were both bleeding.
Police said Nadir Morris, 19, and a 17-year-old man, were arrested and charged with robbery, carjacking, conspiracy and weapons offenses.
Police also recovered a .32-caliber handgun used in the carjacking and the personal items taken from the victims.
The suspects were taken to University Hospital in Newark and treated for non-life threatening stab wounds.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
