Authorities in Newark are investigating a Tuesday evening shooting after an armed suspect opened fire multiple times, chasing the intended target through a section of the city.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. when a ShotSpotter alert detected approximately 15 rounds of gunfire near Garden Spires.
Several police units responded to the scene, where they discovered multiple shell casings and a vehicle struck by bullets in the 100 block of 3rd Street.
Officers later located a second crime scene in the 300 block of 7th Avenue West, where evidence suggested the suspect pursued the victim while continuing to fire.
Despite the intensity of the attack, no physical injuries were reported.
A potential suspect was detained, though authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests.
