According to.police on Tuesday, November 5, shortly after 12:30 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of a body floating in the Hudson River near Newport Marina in Jersey City.
Responding Jersey City Police Officers found the lifeless body as reported.
Police say the badly decomposed body of a female was removed from the water and secured by members of the Jersey City Fire Department.
The identity of the deceased female is unknown at this time. She was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:45 p.m.
The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
