Authorities have confirmed the identity of a body discovered in the Passaic River over the weekend as a 21-year-old Newark man who had been missing for more than three months.

According to information released by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the remains were positively identified as Timothy Robinson through forensic dental analysis.

A forensic odontologist was able to confirm his identity following the recovery of the body from the river in Montville.

Robinson was last seen in Cedar Grove on December 17, and his disappearance was reported shortly afterward.

Newark Police noted in a press release that Robinson was from Newark and described him as “developmentally delayed.”

The discovery was made around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, when two fishermen spotted a body in the water near Route 46 and contacted authorities.

Law enforcement responded to the scene and recovered the body, which did not contain any form of identification at the time.

The incident remains under investigation.
