The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a body found in a creek on Monday morning.
According to a statement released by police, at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Monday, the body of a 51-year-old female was discovered in Overpeck County Park in Teaneck.
Officials say a preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was stabbed and killed at her home in Cresskill and in an effort to hide the crime, her body was wrapped, weighted down, and placed in the water at the boat basin in the park.
According to police, a 19-year-old male and a 14-year-old juvenile have been taken into custody but have not yet been charged.
An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Cresskill Police Department under the direction of Chief Edward J. Wrixon, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton.
Officials say no additional information is available at this time, but a formal statement will be issued later today.
