Update: Bicyclist Struck, Killed in Newark by Vehicle Identified

Authorities have identified the 49-year-old bicyclist struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, Rodney Stroughn, 49 of Newark, was riding a bicycle in the 200 block of Rose Street when he was struck by motor vehicle at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Medical staff subsequently pronounced Stroughn dead at University Hospital.

The vehicle that struck Stroughn fled from the scene.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is active and ongoing.
