Paterson police and prosecutors are investigating an early morning shooting that took place on January 19, near Madison Avenue and Ellison Street.Authorities were alerted to the incident around 4:20 a.m., leading to an active search for clues at the scene.
According to a statement from Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-in-Charge Patrick Murray, officers responding to the area discovered a 23-year-old male victim, a Paterson resident, who declined medical treatment.
Investigators were able to identify a potential crime scene in the vicinity, though details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain limited.
The incident is currently under active investigation, with authorities working to piece together the events that led to the shooting.
Officials are urging the public to come forward with any information that might assist in the case.
