The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has released the identity of the gas station employee who was shot to death Monday night in Irvington.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at a gas station located at 1060 Stuyvesant Ave. shortly before 8 p.m.
Upon arrival, police found Ashiwin Patel, 57, of Edison, (a gas station employee) on the ground bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound.
Patel was rushed to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is handling the active investigation.
