UPDATE: Arrest Made in Fatal Paterson Stabbing

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Deputy Police Chief Troy Oswald announce that an arrest was made by detectives of the Major Crimes Unit of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Paterson Police Department.

Police said one man was arrested and charged for his alleged role in the Wednesday morning stabbing murder of 50 year old Frank P. Edwin, of Paterson, New Jersey.

The victim was discovered on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at approximately 10:56 AM, outside the location of 52 Paterson Street, Paterson, New Jersey.

The victim suffered multiple stab wounds and died at the scene.

Werner Bang, 28 years old from Hightstown, New Jersey was arrested last evening in Paterson without incident.

Bang has been charged with Murder, first degree; and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, third degree authorities said.

If convicted, this defendant faces up to life imprisonment with a mandatory period of 30 years of parole ineligibility.

Bang is being held pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court, which is scheduled for February 10, 2017 at 1:30 pm before the Honorable John Meola, P.J.M.C.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
